2,4-DifluoroNitro Benzene
A high-purity difluoronitrobenzene supplied as a liquid for 2,4-difluoroaniline, pharmaceutical and agrochemical intermediate synthesis.
What is 2,4-Difluoro Nitro Benzene?
2,4-Difluoro Nitro Benzene — 2,4-DFNB — is a pale yellow liquid with fluorine atoms at the ortho and para positions relative to the nitro group.
Both fluorines are activated by the nitro group, so they can be replaced one at a time by amines, alcohols or thiols — a flexible route into many fluorinated drug and crop-protection molecules. Reduction gives 2,4-difluoroaniline, itself an important pharmaceutical building block.
At Chelora Agrochem, 2,4-DFNB is distilled to high assay with isomer content and water held to specification.

Storage and guidelines
- 01Store in tightly sealed original containers, under nitrogen where possible.
- 02Keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, ignition sources and direct sunlight.
- 03Protect from air and light — the liquid darkens on oxidation.
- 04Segregate from strong oxidising agents, acids and acid chlorides.
- 05Use compatible containers: stainless steel, lined steel or HDPE.
- 06Re-seal drums promptly after use and prevent any release to drains, surface water or soil.
Handling precautions
2,4-DFNB is a toxic fluorinated nitroaromatic that is harmful by inhalation, ingestion and skin contact. It is for industrial use by trained personnel only.
Nitro- and chloro-aromatics are absorbed through intact skin and can affect the blood by forming methaemoglobin. Chemical-resistant gloves, coveralls, eye protection and, where needed, respiratory protection are required.
Use local exhaust ventilation for drum decanting, charging and any heated operation; avoid breathing vapour or mist.
The product is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Contain all spills and dispose of waste through licensed chemical waste routes.
Refer to the full Safety Data Sheet for exposure limits, spill response and first-aid measures before use.
Frequently asked questions
It is an intermediate for 2,4-difluoroaniline and for fluorinated pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals built by nucleophilic substitution.
The nitro group activates the positions ortho and para to it. Fluorine at those positions is an excellent leaving group, so it can be replaced under mild conditions — often selectively, one fluorine at a time.
Yes. It melts around 9–10 °C, so it is liquid under normal conditions but can freeze in cold storage.
Only very slightly. It dissolves readily in alcohols, ethers, acetone and aromatic solvents, so reactions are normally run in organic media or in the melt.
Standard grade is supplied at a minimum assay of 99% with isomer content at or below 0.5% and water at or below 0.1%. Tighter specifications can be produced to a customer specification sheet.
25 kg and 200 kg drums. Samples are available for trial and development work.
Yes. Nitro compounds can decompose energetically if heated strongly, especially with bases, reducing agents or contaminants. Keep temperatures controlled, avoid distillation to dryness and follow process-safety studies at scale.
Yes. It is toxic by several routes, absorbed through skin and harmful to aquatic life. Trained personnel, engineering controls and full PPE are required per the Safety Data Sheet.
Yes. Every batch is dispatched with a Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheet covering assay, isomer content, moisture and appearance.
